(She her)1 year of experience

One aspect that makes my practice unique is the breadth of experience I bring to my work. Over the years, I have worked with a wide variety of individuals and concerns, giving me a deep appreciation for the complexity of people's lives. I strive to balance empathy with honesty, offering direct feedback while maintaining a supportive and respectful environment. I also believe that humor has an important place in therapy and can help foster connection and perspective when appropriate. For more than 20 years, I have worked primarily with service members and veterans facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, sexual assault, post-traumatic stress, gender identity concerns, and a variety of other life issues. Prior to this work, I provided counseling to individuals from diverse backgrounds experiencing a broad range of concerns. While I am trained in multiple therapeutic modalities, I believe that effective therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. My approach is tailored to each individual, utilizing the methods and interventions that best fit your unique needs and goals. I also have advanced training in trauma treatment and critical incident stress debriefing. Lastly, I am an avid animal lover and firmly believe that pets are valued members of the family. Their intuition and ability to provide comfort can often be beneficial in the therapeutic process. Because I work from my home office, you may occasionally hear or see one of my pets during our sessions.

First session

My goal is to help you better understand the challenges you face, strengthen your coping skills, uncover the underlying factors contributing to your struggles, and support you in achieving meaningful and lasting change. It is completely normal to feel nervous before a first therapy session. In my experience, however, most people leave that first meeting feeling relieved, encouraged, and often surprised by how much better they feel after having the opportunity to talk openly.

Strengths

My approach to therapy is straightforward, collaborative, and authentic. During our initial sessions, I will want to learn about you—your history, your concerns, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I also encourage you to consider what you are looking for in a therapist. Together, we will determine whether I am the right fit for you. A strong therapeutic relationship is essential because meaningful growth occurs when you feel comfortable, safe, and able to be open and honest. My goal is to help you better understand the challenges you face, strengthen your coping skills, uncover the underlying factors contributing to your struggles, and support you in achieving meaningful and lasting change.

Ideal clients

As a therapist, I work best with clients who want to feel better and are willing to show up for themselves, put in the effort, and grow through the process. You don’t need to have everything figured out, and you certainly don’t need to trust me right away. It’s completely normal to feel cautious in the beginning. All I ask is that you give me a chance and be honest with me as we get to know each other. There is very little you could share that would surprise or shock me. I’ve worked with many people facing a wide range of challenges, and my role is never to judge — it’s to understand, support, and help you move forward. Whatever you’re carrying, you don’t have to carry it alone here.

Treatment methods

Interpersonal

I use interpersonal therapy because I don’t believe people with similar concerns should automatically be treated the same way. Every person is unique, and the way they respond to therapy depends on the approach, interventions, and techniques used. Interpersonal therapy allows me to tailor the work to each individual — focusing on their relationships, communication patterns, and emotional experiences — so the treatment fits them, not just their diagnosis.
