New to Grow
My name is Dion Davis, originally from Santa Barbara County. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has a thriving private practice in downtown Los Angeles. I have worked with diverse populations, such as survivors of trauma and abuse, blended families, foster parents, couples (dating, engaged, and married), adults with substance/sex addiction, mood disorders, and elder adults/seniors. My communication style is empathetic, incorporating positive language and active listening.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, I'll get to know you and the situation you're dealing with. I'll learn about your current circumstances and personal history. The success of your therapy depends partly on having an informed, attuned therapist and partly on your intentionality, transparency, and commitment to the process.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths would be my faith in Jesus, my life experience, my perseverance and resiliency, my multicultural background, and my down-to-earth reliability.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with people facing life challenges, including surviving trauma, navigating social, occupational, or relational difficulties, dealing with addictions or mood disorders, and adjusting to difficult life transitions. Together we'll formulate clear, attainable goals and map out the process.
Attachment-based
I use this model to identify your current interpersonal relationship styles by exploring your formative attachment styles to your primary attachment figures.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I use this model to help clients identify and process emotionally linked behaviors and cycles, and replace them with new behaviors and cycles to meet their emotional attachment needs.
Positive Psychology
I utilize this model, which is based on 5 foundational abilities or needs of wellbeing, to allow a person to flourish by focusing on cultivating these areas of the human experience, grounded in a strengths-based approach as opposed a psychopathology approach to mental wellness.
