LMHC, 10 years of experience
New to Grow
Welcome! I am pleased you are here. I have been in the mental health field for over 25 years. I have worked with clients of all ages, but specialize in working with adults, adolescents and elders. I have extensive experience working with individuals working through trauma, substance use disorders and folks who are navigating the criminal justice system. I attempt to create a safe, supportive environment to identify strengths, explore challenges and foster growth.
In our first session we will work together to create a therapeutic environment getting to know each other so you feel safe and comfortable to more forward in continuing our therapeutic relationship. I will begin to create a comprehensive assessment of your past and current mental health symptoms and together we will engage in setting goals for continued therapy.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients process and heal from trauma, depression, grief and anxiety guiding them towards understanding the impact of experiences and building resilience. I am also solution focused and am trained in Dialectal Behavioral Therapy which focusses on mindfulness practice and skill building. My approach is collaborative and compassionate. Together we will identify your strengths, uncover patterns that may be holding you back. We will develop practical tools that can help you move forward.
The effects of trauma and other life experiences can sometimes result in behaviors in our lives that can feel unmanageable and uncomfortable. I am here to help you walk though these behaviors and find solutions. If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, substance use disorders, the criminal justice system or are just looking for a trusted person to discuss life's ups and downs, I would feel honored to work with you.
I use cbt to treat symptoms of depression and anxiety along with aiding in processing trauma and behaviors resulting from substance use disorders.
I use DBT skills modules to aid in skill building for people with multiple diagnosis including BPD and substance use disorders.
I have experience using MI with clients with multiple diagnosis including depression, general anxiety disorder and substance use disorders.
I use Narrative therapy to understand a person's story of themselves and help them reframe negative personalization to more open minded cognitions.
