New to Grow
My approach to therapy is eclectic and pulls from creative tools, CBT, ACT, CPT, Motivational Interviewing, and DBT. I find that therapy is not a one size fits all approach and that tailoring interventions to a specific client is that most helpful approach for me. I enjoy feedback about what is or is not working in session (i.e. if you hate homework it is okay to say so!) to help clients feel empowered in their session.
First sessions are important for rapport building and identifying what you want from therapy. I like to give people time to talk about their concerns and goals to ensure that I best understand how to help them.
I approach sessions with a quiet and calm approach, but when needed can challenge and often use curiosity to explore things that are showing up as patterns, etc.
I enjoy working with clients who are thinking about making a change or are ready for a change. I enjoy working alongside someone who is determining what their next steps are or navigating life transitions. I enjoy helping others increase their ability to identify positives about their self and get more cozy with their neurodivergence. I utilize homework when a client wants it and try to incorporate things like gaming, organizational skills, and skill building to assist adults with ADHD.
Other specialties
I identify as
Motivational Interviewing
I utilize motivational interviewing to assist folks with identifying strengths, ways to increase their supports, and increase skills to help achieve the goals they want to reach.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to look at thoughts and where they originate from and to find ways to challenge those thoughts while also incorporating DBT and ACT skills to help with things like opposite action, locus of control, etc.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT skills to help increase distress tolerance and work on regulation of the nervous system.
