New to Grow
I am a licensed counselor with over 25 years of experience in community counseling. I specialize in providing compassionate, trauma-informed care and draw from approaches such as CBT, DBT, and ACT to support clients in building resilience, managing emotions, and creating meaningful change. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered on your healing journey.
In our first session, my focus will be on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals, any concerns you’d like to address, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll also explain how I approach therapy, answer your questions, and make sure you feel comfortable with the process. The first session is less about solving everything right away and more about creating a safe, collaborative starting point.
My greatest strengths as a therapist include creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly heard, and tailoring therapy to meet each person’s unique needs. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care, while maintaining warmth, compassion, and cultural sensitivity. What often stands out about my work is the balance of practical skills for managing emotions and stress, alongside deeper exploration that helps clients heal, grow, and align their lives with their values.
I am best positioned to serve adults navigating stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges, as well as those seeking new ways to cope and grow. I especially value working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community and strive to create an affirming, supportive space. Whether your goal is to heal from past experiences, manage overwhelming emotions, or live more fully in line with your values, I will walk alongside you in that process.
I practice from a trauma-informed perspective, which means I create a safe and collaborative space for clients. I emphasize choice, validate their experiences, and integrate grounding or coping tools so they feel supported as we work through challenges.
In my practice, I use CBT to support clients in noticing patterns between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Together, we work on reshaping negative thinking and building practical coping strategies.
In my practice, I use DBT to support clients in balancing acceptance and change. We work together on practical skills like grounding, managing overwhelming feelings, and improving communication in relationships.
I incorporate ACT by teaching clients to accept what’s out of their control, stay present, and commit to actions guided by their values.
