Hello, I am Cathy Birden, M.Ed, LPC-S and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I also graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Master’s degree in Counseling. I believe therapy is a way for you to get extra help when you need it. If you are struggling with a personal crisis, overwhelming emotion, a life transition, problems with friends or family members, or the need to move on from past events, counseling can help. A counseling relationship is unique. You are the professional concerning your life and I respect that through the therapeutic process. I am able to help guide you through the self-exploration necessary to discover new thoughts and feelings for the purpose of healing. Counseling is a way to take complex problems and break them down into workable parts. This can make it safer and easier to achieve the changes you want. Outside of private practice, I have also worked as a Licensed Professional School Counselor in Klein ISD. I am a professional member of the Texas Counseling Association and a certified member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. I will continue to educate myself by attending national and local conferences, and keeping up with current therapy research. When I am not working with clients I enjoy traveling, reading and spending time with my family.
