(she/her)
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 19 years of experience working in the field. I am passionate about helping people be better versions of themselves by challenging narratives that were imposed to create ones that are more intrinsic. I have experiences working with clients to address stress, anxiety, relationship issues, motivation, self-esteem, fear and confidence. I have worked with young children, foster children, Resource parents of foster children, adolescents, teenagers, teenagers in group homes, young men, incarcerated military men and women, and incarcerated men and women in State prison. When I am not working, you can find me at the gym, hiking, at the beach, on a trip, food prepping, spending time with family/friends or sleeping in.
Our first session will be spent getting to know one another and building the therapeutic relationship. I will ask a lot of questions regarding your history and what brought you to therapy so I can gain a more dimensional understanding of who you are. We will discuss any questions or apprehensions you may have and set the tone for future appointments. It's okay to be scared or nervous your first time. We will walk through this journey together!
I am an impeccable listener and I value rapport and connection above all else. I embrace and hold space for each and every one of my clients to promote safety and continued courage as they walk along their healing journey. I am a strengths based focused therapist who believes all of us deserve to be happy and to live more fulfilled lives. Every human possesses the intrinsic magic necessary to create fulfilling and happy lives. As my client's partner, I assist them with awakening dormant skills and abilities to increasing motivation, confidence, self-care, courage, trust, acceptance and healing.
The clients that I am best positioned to serve include clients that are dealing with anxiety, people pleasing, fear, stress, depression, inadequacy, co-dependency, negative self talk, self-limiting beliefs, lack of self confidence, unhealed childhood trauma, motivation issues, overall life mismanagement, unfulfillment, and poor self care.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My experience with this treatment method is working with incarcerated men struggling with addiction and substance use. I also have experience using this modality with men and women in the community struggling with negative self-talk, anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, codependency and history of trauma. I use this modality to support my clients in unlearning narratives imposed by parental and societal influence that create fear, limiting beliefs, people pleasing, poor boundaries, negative self-talk, and unhappiness. As clients challenge fears and feelings, we partner together to recognize and differentiate facts from feelings, which allows clients to be more realistic in their self-expectations but also celebrate achievements, albeit small.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use ACT as a supportive tool for CBT application. I use the concept of radical acceptance to empower clients to continue making forward progress vs. perseveration on actions/experiences out of one's control.
Motivational Interviewing
I utilize this treatment modality to assess readiness for change and to support clients in the achievement of their goals.
