(she/her)
My approach is a unique blend of evidence-based psychotherapy with holistic practices and philosophical exploration, focusing on how everything is intertwined. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, chronic illness, etc. we’ll work together to explore how these issues manifest in your life and affect your overall well-being. I have a "no non-sense", "coaching" style to treatment which means we won't shy away from the truth about your challenges AND your strengths! About me: I've been in the mental health field for 15+ years. My experience ranges from nonprofit programs with foster youth, substance use treatment, and women's mental health to government programs for folks struggling with the cycle of recidivism/homelessness/unemployment. I've worked in government offices, medical clinics, hospitals, outpatient programs, in client homes, and private practice offices. I am currently a Clinical Supervisor for interns gaining hours towards licensure and treating clients in my own private practice.
Just like a first date, let's see if we are a good fit. Our first session will be getting to know each other, looking at your hopes and expectations for therapy, addressing questions you may have and creating an environment of honesty, openness and willingness. My hope is that we will be able to create a plan together so I may support you through your exploration and transformation. If we find we're not a great match, luckily there are several wonderful clinicians to choose from!
I do the work. I'm a clinician AND I'm a client. I go to therapy, support groups, study psychology, and do the best I can to apply what I learn. I've been doing my own therapeutic work for decades and have experienced some of what life has to throw at us. I wholeheartedly believe in the work that I recommend or encourage of my clients because I've done it, explored it, or walked through it with someone else.
I work best with individuals who are ready to explore their truth and who are open to having conversations that might be tough but deeply rewarding. I’ll join you exactly where you are on your journey. My practice is especially suited for those who are interested in exploring the connection between all elements of human life including physical health, spiritual health, relational health, etc and how everything creates the whole picture. Therapy with me is not a passive process. It’s challenging but I believe in the importance of doing deep meaningful work. This might involve exploring past wounds, addressing unhealthy patterns, or uncovering your hidden strengths. My goal is to empower you to connect to your inner resilience, embrace your authentic self and cultivate a more balanced fulfilling life.
Integrative
My overall style is a combination of several different modalities! Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Attachment theory, Existentialism and what does life mean, Transpersonal meaning, Meditation and Mindfulness, Trauma Informed Care, Narrative Therapy, Acute and repressed grief, Psychoeducation, Relational and relationship building, Somatic exercises, Mind Body Connection and overall a very integrative approach working with each client to see what which techniques might fit best.
Humanistic
Humanistic psychology is a holistic approach in psychology that focuses on the whole person. You are a unique human being as an individual, and as such your needs are your unique thumbprint. We will look at all of the aspects of wellness to see where there are areas that we can prioritize, balance, and find peace through discovery. When we take care of the whole person, we are able to heal from a fundamental place that helps us heal from the inside out.

As a therapist, Catherine is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and compassionate. She's also a genuinely friendly and interesting person. Most importantly, she puts a lot of effort into preparing for our sessions. She takes very good notes, and frequently relates the new issues were discussing to relevant thoughts and feelings I've expressed in numerous past sessions. I also like that Catherine suggests reflection topics and therapeutic exercises for me to engage with in the days between our sessions.
