Hello! I'm Liliana Madriz but you can also call me Lily. You did it! You took the first step in seeking help which is not always the easiest. Starting therapy can cause all sorts of feelings but I strive to make this experience as pleasant and empowering as possible. In order to do that, let me tell you about myself. I a am firm believer that everyone has a set of skills and strengths that when explored, can help us achieve the unimaginable. I am a first generation Xicana who can relate to the challenges that many first generation folks face. It is important to have conversations and recognize that people of color face systemic oppression the form of mircoaggression, racism, and other discriminations. I aim to create a safe and welcoming space to help guide and support you through your wellness journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will start off with introductions and creating a safe space. We will discuss the therapy process and then we will proceed to discuss what prompted you to seek therapy. This will help me gain some insight into how to best support you through your healing journey. Lastly, we can discuss any questions or concerns you may have about this journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In my time as a social worker I have worked with and met individuals from various paths of life ranging from adolescents to seniors. In my eight years as a social worker I have worked with individuals who have faced anxieties, depression, trauma, grief, and mental illness. My experience has taught me the importance of meeting each individual where they are at in their healing journey while encouraging them to make measurable goals to accomplish their desired outcome.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

Eclectic therapy draws from multiple theoretical frameworks and therapeutic modalities to guide our session. As a therapist, eclectic therapy lets me use strategies and interventions from various therapeutic modalities to find the best fit for you and does not limit us to one specific method.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Cultural sensitivity is an approach that I strive to bring to our sessions because it helps understand how one’s culture influences beliefs and values. To establish a therapeutic alliance it is important to acknowledge and respect a person’s age, beliefs, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, and other elements that encompass someone’s culture.

Strength-Based

Strength based approach emphasizes on nourishing the person’s inner strengths and self-determination instead of trying to fix what’s “wrong.” While using a strengths based approach we can establish goals and draw from your own strengths to achieve those goals.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma informed therapy is an approach that recognizes how trauma has affected the person's behavior and mental health, while avoiding retraumatization. Important steps in trauma informed therapy are establishing safety, building trust, and recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma.
