About me

My name is Wendy, and I have worked as a therapist for 20 years. I have been providing telehealth for almost ten years, and I find it works well for the client and myself. I plan to retire from my full -time job as a medical oncology social worker soon and want to increase my sessions with Grow Therapy. I live in Florida and am also licensed in Nevada. I have a husband, son, daughter in law and three grandchildren that I am very proud of. I love all sports, but we are a University of Florida family. Go Gators! One of my hobbies is reading historical fiction. I will gladly answer any questions you have about me and my therapy approach.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

When we meet for the first time, I hope to put you at ease. I aim to develop a mutual respect with you so that we can work together as a team. You may want to tell me about your basic day to day life and activities to get started. We can start communicating whatever feels natural and not overwhelming for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have years of experience working with people who are dealing with difficult life transitions. By that I mean death, divorce, traumatic events, medical illness and caregiving demands. I believe in starting the process with an approach therapists call the "window of tolerance." That means we begin exploring issues and concerns where you are most comfortable to begin.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love to work with men or women who are interested in strengthening their overall sense of well- being and peace. Suffering with depression, grief, anxiety and trauma can make us feel vulnerable and unable to see ourselves growing out of the rut we may be in. Having a professional who is non- judgmental, compassionate and skilled can help you gain access to all your strengths and resources that you need to be your best self. You may have a sense of what you need or we can work on this together.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

Strength-based therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes a person's inherent strengths and positive qualities rather than their weaknesses or problems. I would like to help you find your strengths so that you can overcome distress, including anxiety or depression, with confidence and success.

Grief Therapy

I have been a certified grief therapist for over 20 years and work with people going thru all life transitions related to death, divorce, trauma and other unwelcome losses in life. I am also a supporter for caregivers who are dealing with constant pressure and emotion related to their changing roles.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy is a form of psychotherapy that aims to reduce symptoms of various mental health conditions, primarily depression, and disorders such as PTSD and anxiety disorders. This deals with the relationship between thoughts feelings and behaviors and is really useful to help with anxiety and depression and trauma.
