Scott Burch
I view therapy as a collaborative, structured process tailored to each patient's unique physiological, psychological, and situational needs. Every client's journey is unique — I start by listening carefully to your story and the specific challenges bringing you to therapy. From there, we work as a team to identify the sources of your stress and build practical strategies that empower you to thrive in your day-to-day life. Whether we draw on present-focused skills, learn to navigate tough emotions, or process deeper memories — we decide the best path forward together. Grounded in a comprehensive lifespan perspective, my goal is to foster long-term resilience, functional recovery, and health optimization through evidence-based practice.
First session
The initial session is all about building a comfortable, collaborative foundation. We’ll talk through your story, explore how your current thoughts or past experiences are impacting your day-to-day life, and outline a tailored roadmap. Whether we draw on present-focused skills, learn to navigate tough emotions, or process deeper memories , we decide the best path forward together.
Strengths
About Me Are you striving to build a meaningful, fulfilling life but finding yourself weighed down by stress, transitions, or feeling disconnected from what matters most? Seeking therapy is a powerful step toward clarity, and you do not have to navigate the path alone. My Approach My approach stands out because it is built entirely around your unique goals and values. Together, we will work to deeply understand what drives you, while equipping you with the practical insight and concrete skills necessary to actively live into those values. I treat our collaborative relationship as the main vehicle for your growth, matching deep empathy with an active, solution-focused strategy. My Experience I bring a diverse and robust clinical background spanning various life stages and unique populations. My early career includes foundational work with children and adolescents in residential treatment facilities and Head Start programs, as well as extensive experience helping children and adults on the Autism spectrum achieve true independence and success across their occupational, home, and social lives. Following graduate school, I had the distinct privilege of serving as a U.S. Army psychologist for 20 years. Having guided individuals through high-stakes environments, severe stress, and profound life transitions, I am now transitioning into the next stage of my own career—bringing that dedication, structure, and specialized clinical expertise directly to my private practice clients. What to Expect In our sessions, you can expect an environment of safety, profound active listening, and objective support, even when navigating highly complex or differing viewpoints. Whether you are navigating a major life shift, looking to build social autonomy, or striving to realign your day-to-day life with your core principles, we will build a clear, structured path forward. I primarily tailor my approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as EMDR.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is an individual that is looking to improve their life and find how to live into the values that are important to them. They do not need to be able to define this before therapy, just know they a ready to change and improve themselves. Also an individual that is ready to collaborate to meet these goals. I can work to guide you; but it needs to a be a joint effort to make lasting change
