LMFT, 40 years of experience
I am a skilled, empathetic therapist who is committed to providing you with support, insight, and practical tools. You have more strengths and fewer weaknesses than you realize. Working together, we explore you, letting you see yourself as you really are and always have been - worthwhile and loveable. You can learn and move forward. Seeing a licensed therapist often provides new ways to work through the issues and fears holding you back. No matter the obstacles, we will find solutions together. My goal is to help you feel comfortable in your own skin and make wise decisions for your life. We disarm obstacles and implement techniques building confidence, competency, comfort, and trust in yourself. "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain." Vivian Green
Our first session we will spend most of the time exploring why you are starting therapy and what you want to achieve. Your comfort and your goals will be the focus of our times together. As you feel more at ease with me, we will talk about what obstacles and issues keep coming up. We will explore and decipher patterns and difficulties. Untangling those that have held you back, allowing you to move forward more confidently.
My approach is very eclectic. I have been in private practice for many years and worked with a wide variety of clients. I will use my knowledge and experience to tailor-make my path to assist you. I sometimes suggest journaling and/or homework or remembering when and who triggered an issue or experience. My approach flows from where you are and where you want to go.
As I have mentioned, I have worked on with clients on many different issues. Here are a few of my specialties: Self-esteem and confidence, Parenting and Co-parenting, Adult ADHD/ADD, Depression, Aniety, Codependency, and Abuses.
I see adults, adolescents, individuals, and couples.

I first sought help after finding my best friend's body. She helped by listening and giving thoughtful advice. Like on things I could do to calm my thoughts. I kept seeing her as I also lost my Dad, found a dear client dead and lost 2 other close family members. She helped me through some very hard times. She gave me new ideas on how to deal with family issues and my relationships with them. That really helped! It's just been nice to know someone is there for me.

When choosing a mental health provider, I selected Judi Lirman for several reasons. Judi's age was a key factor. I trusted that we were around the same stage of life, and she had experience counseling in areas that met my needs. My family concerns involve an ex-marriage to a malignant narcissist/addict, almost sole-rearing of two differently-abled sons, and my upbringing in a dysfunctional FOO. The therapy process of addressing my mental health requires warmth and intelligence. That's Judi!
