Hello! My name is Brittany and I am a queer black dance/movement therapist, licensed counselor, embodiment coach, and performing artist. I would describe myself as an eclectic clinician who prioritizes decolonial approaches to therapy and community centered healing. As a neurodivergent artist and therapist from the South, it is my hope to prioritize lived experiences and challenge systems of oppression. I believe that the body and soul are channels of memory, sacred spaces for vulnerability, and entities for radical introspection. When I am not being a therapist, you will find me taking dance classes, facilitating embodiment sessions, cooking for loved ones, organizing and decorating spaces, indulging in the art of calligraphy, collecting vinyl, and cultivating creative queer spaces for artists.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session you will find that I welcome questions, feelings, and curiosity. The first session is not just about getting to know you as a client but also evaluating if our values are in alignment with your therapeutic goals. I use intentional self-disclosure during the first session to further inform my beliefs and approaches to therapy. Clients are encouraged to voice concerns, express needs, ask questions, and disclose any information they feel is important regarding their mental health background. I know that meeting a therapist for the first time can bring up various emotions and I welcome you to show up unapologetically and authentically. If we are not a good fit, I am more than happy to assist you in finding a new clinician and/or being a community resource. I believe in the power of community and make it my duty to continue building an ecosystem of clinicians who I trust.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe that my authenticity, artistic background, and unorthodox approaches make me unique. I am not interested in regurgitating outdated and/or harmful language that dishonor the experiences of those I have the privilege of working with. My therapeutic practices de-center Western approaches to therapy while challenging systems of oppression. Clients that I work with share that they feel seen, empowered, challenged, and are able to recognize their own humanity.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are those who desire to take a mind and body approach to therapy. Most clients who connect with me come from culturally diverse backgrounds, may identify as neurodivergent/ neuro-spicy, LGBTQIA+, and/or looking for a more holistic focus to therapy. Potential clients should know that I use a combination of talk therapy and somatic based therapy. Client concerns that I am most passionate about include: Grief & loss support, ADHD/ OCD, LGBTQIA+ issues, LGBTQIA+ relationships/ friendships, surviving Narcissistic abuse, Adoption, and rupture/repair processing.
