New to Grow
My training is broad, my approach is flexible, and my perspective is wide. I offer an open, thoughtful, and positive counseling style that respects individuality and promotes empowerment through knowledge, genuineness, and connection. Together, we can create meaningful change and lasting growth. If this sounds like a good match for you, please call or email my office to schedule an appointment.
During our first session, my goal is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and respected. We will discuss what brought you to counseling, the concerns you would like to address, and what you hope to accomplish. I will ask questions about your current situation, relevant history, strengths, and support system to better understand your needs. We will also review confidentiality, office policies, and what you can expect from the counseling process. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and decide whether I am the right therapist for you. Together, we will begin developing a practical treatment plan tailored to your goals. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready to discuss. My approach is supportive, straightforward, and collaborative, with an emphasis on creating a safe environment where meaningful progress can begin.
My life and professional experiences have taught me that people need both compassion and honesty to create meaningful change. I understand that life can bring loss, disappointment, anxiety, relationship difficulties, career challenges, and unexpected transitions. These experiences have helped me become a counselor who listens without judgment and respects each client’s individual story. In our sessions, I will give you the time and emotional space you need to feel heard and understood. However, I am not a therapist who simply sits quietly throughout the session. When appropriate, I will respectfully challenge thoughts, behaviors, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck or contributing to distress. I may ask difficult questions, point out inconsistencies, or encourage you to consider a situation from a different perspective. My counseling style balances support with accountability. I believe clients should feel safe enough to be honest, but also challenged enough to grow. I will not push you before you are ready, nor will I avoid important issues simply because they are uncomfortable. We will work together at a pace that respects your needs while continuing to move toward your goals. You can expect me to be genuine, straightforward, compassionate, and actively involved in the counseling process. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, recognize unhelpful patterns, develop practical skills, and make changes that improve your life.
My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or uncertain about the next step in life. They may be struggling with relationships, occupational stress, difficult transitions, or patterns of thinking and behavior that no longer serve them. They want a counselor who will listen without judgment while also offering honest feedback and practical guidance. Most importantly, they are willing to participate in the process, gain new insight, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors that may contribute to anxiety, depression, stress, or relationship difficulties. I provide supportive but honest feedback while helping clients develop healthier perspectives, practical coping skills, and more effective responses. CBT is collaborative, goal-oriented, and focused on creating meaningful changes that clients can apply in everyday life.
I use grief therapy to help clients process the emotional impact of losing someone or something important. Grief may follow a death, divorce, health change, job loss, or other major life transition. I provide a safe, supportive space to express difficult emotions, understand individual grief responses, and develop healthy coping strategies. The goal is not to forget or “move on,” but to adjust to the loss, preserve meaningful connections, and gradually move forward with renewed purpose.
I use a mind-body approach to help clients understand how thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and behaviors affect one another. Stress and unresolved emotions can appear in the body as tension, fatigue, disrupted sleep, or other discomfort. Through increased awareness, breathing techniques, relaxation strategies, grounding exercises, and healthier thought patterns, clients learn to calm their nervous system and respond more effectively to stress. This approach supports emotional balance, physical awareness, and overall well-being.
