I work well with individuals or couples who experience symptoms of stress and anxiety, as I maintain a calm demeanor, work with a sense of humor, and maintain an optimistic approach. It's not my approach to talk through people’s past and earliest traumas to get us caught up to the modern day challenges. Instead I find it more effective to begin with the challenges faced in the present moment; and then we can move backwards as appropriate. Mental health involves a relationship with lifestyle and physical health, so these can be important areas to touch on in the first sessions. I have specific experience working with people from across all cultures. Scheduling sessions is your decision. Feel free to meet weekly, biweekly, or as needed. For five years I taught psychology, cross cultural studies and statistics as a faculty member in a small college. I then began to see patients with severe mental and physical health impairments in an inpatient setting. Now I am working primarily with clients in my outpatient private practice, as well as supervising psychologist interns. Additionally I am working with vulnerable adults in a community care setting outside of my private practice. My background is in research, evolutionary and mindfulness based philosophies, and I have a strong interest in working with cross cultural populations, couples and individuals.
In our first session, I'd like to listen to where you are at today, in this current moment. Most important for me to understand in the first session are your motivations and your goals; why did you schedule therapy, and what do you hope to get out of it?
In my practice, I take care to work patiently and calmly with the client to help them in addressing their difficulties in the ways that work the best for them. You will find that everything I mention in therapy, every technique or exercise is based on research, knowledge of the subject, and best approaches from modern psychology and other disciplines.
I work extremely well with clients who experience symptoms of anxiety, as I maintain a calm demeanor and an optimistic approach in our sessions. My main target specialty are individuals or couples who are motivated to improve themselves, to heal, and to improve their relationships with others.

I am interested in meeting clients where they are at, and working with them to help them to reach their full potential, as they see it. I have a strong background in mindfulness and it's applications in Western Culture, as well as it's benefits for psychotherapy.
My background in psychology originated in research, statistics, and measurement. My training and interests is focused on using the best possible approaches to help the person address their difficulties using the most effective approaches.
Complementing mindfulness, and acceptance based approaches, I find DBT techniques to often help those needing practical guided options for growth and healing.
