Hello, my name is Karen. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and accepting. I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where you are genuinely heard, supported, and respected without judgment. I am committed to honoring your unique life experiences and walking alongside you as you work toward healing, growth, and greater balance. Together, we can identify patterns that may no longer be serving you and develop healthier ways of coping and responding to life’s challenges. I take a whole-person approach, recognizing the connection between mind, body, and emotional well-being while helping clients strengthen their relationship with themselves. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, overwhelm, trauma, relationship difficulties, stress, or life transitions, I am here to support you with compassion, insight, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques. Seeking therapy can feel intimidating at first, but it is also a meaningful and courageous investment in yourself. You deserve support, healing, and the opportunity to thrive. I look forward to working together. Whether you're dealing with overwhelm, relationship issues or cycles of anxiety and depression, I am here to help. Seeking therapy can at times feel daunting AND you are making a wise decision. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I will meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome what may be holding you back. Let's work together!
During our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. You will have the opportunity to share your concerns, current stressors, personal history, and goals for treatment at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe being yourself. We will also review symptoms, coping patterns, strengths, and areas where you would like support or change. Together, we will begin identifying goals for therapy and discuss possible approaches that may help you move toward healing and improved emotional well-being. There is no pressure to share everything immediately; the first session is about building trust, understanding your needs, and creating a collaborative foundation for treatment.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a compassionate, accepting, and collaborative environment where clients feel emotionally safe and supported. I strive to help clients better understand themselves, increase self-awareness, and recognize patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress or feeling stuck. I believe people have the ability to grow, heal, and make empowered choices, even during difficult seasons of life. My approach combines empathy with practical, evidence-based strategies to help clients improve emotional regulation, communication, coping skills, and self-confidence. I work to meet each client where they are while encouraging meaningful progress toward their goals. I value authenticity, trust, and the therapeutic relationship, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they navigate healing, growth, and positive change.
I am best positioned to support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, overwhelm, trauma-related stress, emotional reactivity, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, and life transitions. Many of my clients feel emotionally exhausted, stuck in unhealthy patterns, or disconnected from themselves and others. I work well with clients who are motivated for growth, open to self-exploration, and seeking healthier coping skills, emotional balance, improved communication, and meaningful personal healing.
Other specialties
I identify as
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My approach to Person-Centered Therapy is rooted in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. I believe clients are the experts of their own lives and already possess strengths and inner wisdom that can support healing and growth. I strive to create a safe, accepting, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. In sessions, I use reflective listening, emotional validation, and collaborative exploration to help clients increase self-awareness, process emotions, and build confidence in their ability to make meaningful changes. I value meeting clients where they are and supporting them at a pace that feels safe and empowering.
Psychodynamic
My psychodynamic approach focuses on helping clients understand how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns may continue to affect current emotions, behaviors, and relationships. I work collaboratively with clients to explore recurring themes, attachment experiences, family dynamics, and emotional wounds that may contribute to distress or feeling stuck. Through insight-oriented exploration, clients are often able to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, improve emotional awareness, and create healthier patterns in relationships and coping. I integrate psychodynamic concepts in a supportive and practical way that promotes both insight and meaningful change.
Eclectic
I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning I tailor treatment to meet the unique needs, goals, and experiences of each client rather than relying on a single method. I recognize that every individual responds differently to therapy, and I draw from multiple evidence-based approaches to create a treatment plan that best supports the client. Depending on the client’s needs, I may integrate techniques from CBT, psychodynamic therapy, person-centered therapy, mindfulness, strength-based interventions, and solution-focused approaches. This flexibility allows treatment to remain individualized, collaborative, and responsive to each client’s progress and goals.
Strength-Based
My strength-based approach focuses on helping clients recognize and build upon their existing strengths, resilience, values, and abilities rather than focusing solely on problems or symptoms. Many individuals seeking therapy are already surviving difficult experiences while underestimating their own capabilities. In therapy, I help clients identify personal strengths, coping skills, accomplishments, and support systems that can be used to promote healing and growth. I believe fostering self-compassion, empowerment, and confidence can help clients feel more capable of navigating challenges and creating lasting positive change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT is an evidence-based approach that can be highly effective for anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, stress management, emotional regulation, and interpersonal difficulties. In sessions, I help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, cognitive distortions, and behavioral cycles that may contribute to emotional distress. Together, we work on developing healthier coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, challenging negative self-beliefs, and practicing more balanced and adaptive ways of thinking and responding. I also incorporate practical tools and exercises clients can apply in everyday life outside of therapy sessions.
