Hello there! My name is Flora and I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Florida. Are you struggling with feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, and/or depression due to challenges relating to illness, loss, or grief? I have over 3 years of experience working as a medical social worker for one of the largest hospital organizations in Central Florida assisting patients and their families who are experiencing the challenges of living with and experiencing chronic and acute illnesses. My skills revolve around providing support to patients/clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief as a result of physical issues that are interconnected with their mental health and also individuals experiencing large life transitions.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
It would be my privilege to serve your therapeutic needs. You can expect to receive guidance and support to navigate the challenges associated with illness, grief, and/or loss in a respectful, comforting, encouraging manner and through a safe space of listening and understanding.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
I utilize a whole-person approach to therapy while combining aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and modify negative thoughts/patterns/behaviors, Grief Counseling to address the emotions and challenges associated with loss, and Mindfulness-based therapies to help individuals be present in the moment and to cultivate self-compassion.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I have personally lived with chronic illnesses for over 30 years. I aim to use my own experiences, professional knowledge and skills to empower and profoundly impact individuals who are wanting to overcome their challenges through compassionate support and guidance. Growing up in a military family, I had the privilege of co-existing and meeting people from all different cultures and backgrounds who carry different customs, and beliefs. This offers me the foundation to also serve a diverse population in a nonjudgmental, respectful and accepting manner.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief relating to acute and/or chronic illness.
