Hi! I’m Annabel, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts. I’ve had experience in all kinds of settings, with all kinds of people. I can sit with you, without judgement, to help you think through the experiences of your life. No worry is too big or too small. I work well with people who are hoping to take control of their lives, but don't know where to start. I provide a person-centered environment to help you feel in control, empowered, and ready to keep going!
In our first session together, I'd like to get to know what brings you to therapy today. We can work together to figure out what that therapy will look like moving forward. If you have lots of questions, that's ok! If you don't have any questions, it's also ok- we can navigate our sessions together. We will spend the hour navigating what therapy can look and feel like- because we will need to make sure we are on the same page.
One of my best skills is that in my wide range of experiences, I have come to learn that you are the expert of yourself, and I can help you navigate the world of therapy. There is no judgement in my space, there is no thought or feeling too scary to mention, and we can re-invent the plan every time we meet until we find the right pace. I like to make individual connections and create a safe space to be yourself. I am passionate about empowering people to feel grounded and in control of their lives- whether it is through improving self-esteem, reducing anxiety, challenging you to take on something that feels scary, or showing up and being present for each session- I am confident we can do it together.
I help emerging adults and adults with anxiety, depression, work/school stress, burnout/compassion fatigue, life changes, and peer/family relationships in a one-on-one setting. I provide an eclectic therapy (a mixture of some of my favorite types, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Talk Therapy). It is my priority that you feel in control of your treatment, and I am ready to meet you when you are ready. People who might not be a good fit for me in this virtual platform for safety reasons: individuals who struggle with chronic suicidal ideation, psychosis, substance use disorders, and personality disorders.
In my years of practice, I tend to blend bits and pieces of different therapy models together to best fit your needs as a client. Because I have experience in different modes of therapy, we can come up with a treatment plan together, based on your needs and comfort, and check in frequently about how progress is going.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a practical way to make small shifts in your thoughts, feelings, and behavior so that you can notice a decrease in anxiety, stress, improvement in sleep, and take action! I've been using CBT for the past 12 years and find that it really helps clients feel empowered to make a change.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT!) is great for short term therapy. We will work together to establish attainable goals and identify the solutions to achieve them. SFBT generates hope, positive emotions, and future based goals to achieve motivation and sustained change.
