I'm a down-to-earth therapist with a generally upbeat personality. I've been practicing clinically since 2016 and love what I do. As a military spouse and daughter of a veteran, I also understand military culture. I worked with active-duty service members for four years. The military has led to several moves and many opportunities in my career. I've treated people struggling with addictions, trauma, grief, loss, relationship issues, and unbelievable stress. As a wife and mother, I have also found joy in helping families with young children during my work with the birth-to-three population. Everything changes when people have children. Postpartum depression and anxiety deserve to be met with love and support. I believe therapy should be individualized and trauma-informed. All of my clients are met with the same energy and care. This is about you. I keep it real and don't pass judgment no matter the issue.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is for our assessment. Essentially, I'll take the time to get to know you by exploring your history. It helps us to paint a better picture to understand where you come from and what you need from therapy. Every client is different and there is no cookie cutter for treatment. Together we develop a plan to determine our goals for care. Are we here to process through a loss? Do we need to unpack generational or situational trauma? Do we have a history of unhealthy relationships and coping skills? Care without judgement creates safe spaces where people can tell their stories with honesty, and without fear or shame.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am so passionate about good quality clinical work. I could talk all day about the specifics of treatment modalities that I've been trained in and therapy mumbo-jumbo (if you do want to know, we can totally get into that) but at the end of the day what matters is connection. We build a trusting therapeutic relationship and then I push people out of their comfort zone. Growth will only come when we are a little uncomfortable. I offer more than support to talk about sadness or anxiety. My therapy is based on your goals. Why are you here and how can we get you where you want to be? I'm currently working on a doctorate because this is my passion. My goal is to make a positive impact on the world of some sort every day. I try to live true to that through my work in helping my clients.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is the foundation of my therapy practice. We discuss issues with open-ended questions, to identify thoughts and behaviors that are not getting us the results we want. Changing patterns of behavior and learning to challenge thoughts helps us to overcome long term problems.

Psychodynamic

I take a psychodynamic approach to explore behavioral history and identify patterns. This comes from what has been learned over time through relationships. Trauma especially teaches us unhealthy coping mechanisms. The psychodynamic approach explores that so we can develop new patterns of thinking.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

CBT-I is a structured plan to improve long term challenges with insomnia. I support my clients in understanding sleep patterns, following the plan, and exploring what stressors are impacting their ability to sleep.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Cognitive Processing Therapy is my preferred approach in treating trauma. We can use this for a single trauma, or multiple. It is helpful in overcoming recurrent thoughts about the trauma, and also explores how the trauma has impacted our lives.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate a mix of CBT and DBT skills in my general practice. We challenge the way we think about things and our behaviors while incorporating skills to improve mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
