About me

Hello, I grew up in a major city. I have a passion for helping others. I spent many years in hospitality while working my way through college. My hospitality experience has helped me to be customer oriented which I carry this characteristic in my practice of helping others by being prompt to sessions and clearly communicating my therapeutic styles. I have several years of experience in case management and mental health. As a medical case manager, I support clients who are living with HIV/AIDS and I'm passionate helping them to realize they are much more than having a serious a medical condition. I encourage my clients to find their voices advocating in their medical care and awe when they are able to articulate their needs in medical visits. I am excited hearing my clients using positive language toward themselves and others which brings me to a full circle that I am where right where I am supposed to be in life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During clients first session, I like to get to know clients by asking why they are interested in mental health counseling. I'd ask what they are looking for in a therapist and how I can support them. I would ask what would therapy look like and how I can support them. I'd also ask if they would like homework assignments to work through their mental health concerns.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a helping professional, my greatest strengths are having an empathetic ear, listening to others, highlighting clients' strengths, building trust and rapport, understanding acceptance, setting therapeutic boundaries, having clear verbal communication, having flexibility with scheduling, and providing positive feedback reviewing their homework assignments.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I prefer working with women and enjoy helping them to navigate through life challenges. I believe women have the fortitude and resiliency to re-write their life stories with support from an empathic and non-judgmental therapist.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

I have used several different treatment methods in my practice. The foundation of my practice is strength based because it helps clients to recognize their true potential to overcome adversities.

Narrative

When I facilitate women groups, I like to encourage clients rewriting their life narratives to help them overcome how they view themselves.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In practice, I believe clients know their lives best. I like to listen closely to what they are saying about themselves, life challenges, and let them identify how they can find solutions to their challenges.

Attachment-based

I think it's important to know how clients' attachments to others could have positive and negative impacts on their emotional health. Individual and group therapy, I would tie in how relationships are vital how clients feel about themselves.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Working with clients living with anxiety or serious medical conditions, I like to introduce mindfulness techniques to help calming their minds and bodies.
