Welcome! My name is Marlén Jiménez. I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Los Angeles, CA. I identify as a first generation Latina and have been in the field of mental health for over 23 years. I support clients as they navigate life's various challenges, transitions, anxiety, depression, imposter syndrome and relationship stress. I believe in creating an affirming, friendly, non-judgmental space that is both compassionate and culturally sensitive.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first meeting you can expect a warm welcome as we get to know one another , explore your story, collect important history and review expectations for treatment. This session is also a chance for you to ask me questions and get a feel for my approach. Together, we’ll begin shaping a plan that feels comfortable and supportive for you.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and solutions-oriented, helping you gain inner strength and courage to move forward in a consistent way. I aim to build trust and safety in the therapy setting.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I welcome clients who are seeking a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore their experiences. Whether you’re managing the complexities of new parenthood, healing from trauma, depression or feeling stuck in patterns of anxiety or self-doubt, I offer a collaborative, compassionate approach grounded in evidence-based practices. I care deeply about women's health and have additional training in providing support to the perinatal and postpartum population. Please note that I am not currently accepting referrals for couples work.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
What we say to ourselves we believe. CBT interventions can help you recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. We’ll then use that knowledge to manage unhelpful thinking patterns that may be getting in the way of your day to day living.
EMDR
Adverse experiences can leave us feeling stuck and unable to move forward. EMDR can help reprocess and resolve upsetting memories.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT focuses on helping individuals develop psychological flexibility. I combine mindfulness strategies with behavioral change techniques to help my clients accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting against or trying to change them.
