In the first session my goal is to hear what the clients needs are and the best ways to meet those needs. This will involve Karen asking questions and also gathering information from the client. Part of the goal of the first session is also building rapport with the client.
Having worked in the counseling field for the past 27 years, Karen has a wide range of strengths that she brings into the counseling room. This would include the ability to establish rapport rather quickly with adolescents and adults. It also includes listening well, identifying goals, and providing a warm and inviting space for the client to process whatever their needs may be.
Karen is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
While I use interpersonal therapy in my practice, I also use other modalities depending on the needs of the client and what they are seeking. The treatment methods do not allow for me to choose more than one option. I am a Christian therapist and can provide Christian counseling at the request of the client.
