I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. I have a Masters in Education from UC Riverside, and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I have been practicing for 10 years. With a diverse clinical background spanning private practice to schools and community mental health centers, I apply client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness practices to empower clients on their healing journeys.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Starting therapy is a courageous step, and seeking support is a sign of strength as you navigate and overcome mental health challenges. In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, therapy expectations, and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. Therapy is collaborative and necessitates we are a good fit for best outcomes. During our time together, we will tailor a plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with individuals facing various challenges over the past ten years, I believe in meeting you where you're at, establishing trust, and utilizing appropriate evidence-based skills and practices to address your unique needs. I am honored to contribute a positive change in people's lives and foster a supportive space for therapeutic growth.

Narrative

Narrative therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on the stories we tell about our lives and how these stories shape our identity and experiences. In practice, we’ll examine your story more closely. You'll explore how you see yourself and your life, and how you describe your experiences. We can identify any problems or negative patterns in your story, which might be ways of thinking or beliefs about yourself that are causing distress. Together, we’ll work on reshaping your story. This might involve highlighting positive experiences, discovering strengths and resources, and finding new perspectives on your past. This new perspective can be reflective of your true self and can help you move forward with a more positive outlook.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. By understanding the connection between what you think and how that affects your feelings and behaviors, we can work to change patterns that aren't serving you well. Together, we will identify and challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts that might be causing you distress. The goal is to change unhelpful thought patterns to healthier, more realistic ones. We will work on strategies to cope with difficult situations and practice new skills.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on helping you manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope better with stress. It combines cognitive behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. The "dialectical" part of DBT means finding a balance between different perspectives, such as acceptance and change. DBT teaches you mindfulness skills, distress tolerance skills, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is particularly effective for managing intense emotions, impulsive behaviors, and relationship challenges. It provides practical tools to help you lead a more balanced and fulfilling life.
