My name is Kenny Gallegos and I am a psychotherapist. As I a therapist, I enjoy helping people identify challenging aspects of their lives affecting their mental health and collaborating with them to achieve a more stable quality of life. I focus on utilizing a variety of approaches and techniques, ranging from CBT, DBT, trauma-informed, and STI to mindfulness, to serve a diverse population of ages and ethnic backgrounds while remaining client-centered.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

From the initiation of services, you can expect me as a clinician to practice warmth, acceptance, and unconditional positive regard. I understand that initiating mental health services can be a difficult process and creating an environment where my clients feel safe, understood, and respected is an active and ongoing process for me. I understand, for some, it can be difficult to be vulnerable and engage in active listening and remaining nonjudgmental is important to me. I find that collaborating on treatment goals and objectives that are easily understood and having an ongoing conversation about progress can be expected. When possible, I do like to start with the end in mind; helping my clients envision their last day of services from the start is crucial, as it gives us confidence to know when stability will be reached. Prior to ending services, my clients can expect collaboration on a plan to maintain or improve their mental health progress.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a clinician I like to incorporate my core values in therapy. My core values have been significantly influenced by life experiences. Many of these life experiences throughout my journey to becoming a therapist and while being a clinician have shaped my worldview. I have witnessed firsthand how resilient people can be when faced with adversity. Being a first-generation Latino male with divorced parents, I believe, has helped me value humility and a drive to help society during difficult times very early on. I believe that—as humans—we have the potential to continue to be resilient beings. Honesty, respect, and empathy are values that I incorporate into my approach and care for my clients. Often, I find that what is good for my clients is all good for me and is also what helps me work toward stability. I actively enjoy helping my clients learn and develop skills that can help them better cope with situations and strive to achieve their desired quality of life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through this approach I focus with my clients on developing insight on why they feel distressful feelings target and challenge irrational thoughts and focus on developing more balanced alternative thoughts and behaviors to achieve their well being.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Through out this approach clients are introduced to DBT theory, philosophy, and interventions with a heavy focus on skill building that pertain to Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.
