Hey, I'm Annie - and I'm here to help you make your therapy experience a little less intimidating and a little more fun. As a parent myself, I know how hard it can be to take time out of your schedule to focus on yourself, your relationships, or even your family when you're just trying to get everyone to eat dinner. I believe that therapy should be meaningful, impactful, and not miserable ... big goals, I know! I have over 7 years of experience working directly with parents on best parenting practices from birth to adolescence, and all the weird ages in between. I know that it takes a village to raise a child, and as your therapist I'm invested in the wellbeing of your entire family, not just you. As a marriage and family therapist, I understand that we are not individuals in a vacuum, but that we are constantly existing in relation to others - which is where most of both the work and healing can happen! I also have training in Gottman Level 1 couple's therapy and am happy to work with individuals and couples, with or without children. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed with life, in a tricky transitional period, or simply need someone to help detangle the thoughts in your head, I'm here to help. Reach out today to see if we'd be a good fit! I

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is mostly a "getting-to-know-you" hour, where we review information about what's going on in your life, some family history, relational history, and any significant stressors. Most importantly, we will discuss what you want to get out of therapy - after all, this hour is for you! By the end of session, we'll have created a roadmap together for what therapy sessions will look like moving forward, including session frequency, length, and any other clinical recommendations.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Sessions with me are an experience where YOU are the main character for an hour. I will challenge you, encourage you, and help you take steps towards the life you want to be living in our time together. I'm happy to work with entire family systems, couples, and adult individuals on a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. Specifically, I am experienced in helping parents navigate the already difficult aspects of life when coupled with mental health challenges.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I find that clients who get the most out of my therapy sessions are those who are willing to take a chance on better understanding themselves, taking ownership of their role in their own lives, and willing to do some work outside of session. I primarily see adults, including: individuals working on things such as anxiety, depression, & trauma; couples working on things like communication & conflict resolution; and parents, who may be seeking strategies for their children, improving their co-parenting ability, or working on their own emotional wellbeing.

My treatment methods

Couples Counseling

I try to make couple's counseling a dynamic and enjoyable experience, where each partner comes to a deeper understanding of one another's emotions, dreams, and sense of self. I utilize a mixture of evidence based Gottman counseling, with a humanistic and trauma informed approach.
