Grief is deeply personal, and its emotional edges vary from person to person. The timeline of healing is unpredictable, and the changes that grief brings can feel overwhelming. Left unaddressed, grief can impact your emotional well-being, relationships, and overall health. As a therapist specializing in grief counseling, I provide a compassionate and patient space where you can process your pain without judgment. Whether you are mourning the loss of a loved one, adjusting to life after illness or disability, grieving the loss of an animal companion, or navigating significant life transitions, I offer guidance tailored to your unique experience. To ensure a high level of care, I maintain a small caseload, allowing for individualized attention and support.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our sessions, you can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space where your grief is acknowledged and validated. Together, we will explore practical tools to help manage overwhelming emotions and the challenges of daily life. I will support you in rebuilding a sense of connection, purpose, and stability while navigating the impact of grief on your relationships and life transitions. My therapeutic approach is tailored to honor your unique grief experience, providing space for healing, growth, and resilience.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a grief therapist lies in the integration of my extensive clinical experience, dual expertise in medicine and mental health, and deep commitment to guiding individuals through the complexities of loss. This unique combination allows me to approach grief with both a compassionate understanding of emotional suffering and a comprehensive awareness of its physical and psychological impacts.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work well with those who appreciate a patient, practical, and emotionally attuned approach—individuals who may feel stuck in their grief, unsure of how to move forward, or who are experiencing the secondary effects of loss, such as isolation, self-doubt, or anxiety. Whether you are newly grieving or carrying long-standing, unresolved grief, I provide guidance tailored to your unique experience, helping you develop the tools and strength needed to navigate your healing journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I often use CBT to help individuals identify and modify negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their emotional distress or problematic behavior. We do this through assessment, goal setting, cognitive restructuring, behavioral strategies, skill building, reviewing progress and making adjustments and relapse prevention.

Grief Therapy

I will utilize methods of Grief Therapy to help individuals cope with the emotional, psychological, and sometimes physical aspects of loss. Helping clients to navigate the complex and sometimes conflicting emotions associated with grief and develop coping strategies that suit their individual needs, considering both short-term and long-term approaches to coping with grief.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

A common approach to stress, anxiety and depression is utilizing Mindfulness-based therapy to help individuals develop awareness, presence, and a non-judgmental acceptance of their thoughts and emotions. We work to develop mindfulness based skills, cultivating present moment awareness, self compassion, and explore unhelpful thought patterns to help clients manage stressors and challenges.

Strength-Based

For treatment of mood disorders and stressors, I work with clients to identify and leverage their own personal strengths, resources, and capabilities to promote positive change and well-being. We will build and develop skills of self-efficacy, cultivate positive identity and learn to integrate strengths into problem solving and daily-life.

Narrative

In my grief work, I often utilize methods of Narrative Therapy to employ reflective listening to deeply understand a clients narrative, asking open-ended questions that invite reflection and exploration. In this approach I serves as a co-author and guide, supporting a client in exploring, understanding, and transforming the stories that shape their grief and experiences to promote healing.
