Hello, my name is Crystal Reyes-Castillo, and I am a bilingual (Spanish-speaking) licensed mental health therapist in the state of Florida. I am a proud graduate of the University of Florida's Counselor Education Program, which has been consistently recognized as top 5 in the nation since 2009. With over 15 years of experience, I have worked in a variety of settings, providing individual, group and family counseling to children, adolescents, adults and families.
In our first session, we will take time to get to know each other. Like any other relationship in your life, the therapeutic relationship is one that develops over time and will flourish with honesty, mutual respect, constructive feedback and consistent effort. I will listen non-judgmentally to your concerns and help you create a plan to reach your therapeutic goals.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered, strengths-based and holistic, meaning that my focus is on helping you unearth and utilize your unique talents and abilities to address your specific concerns and grow in all areas of your life. I will teach you research-based strategies to get the results you are seeking and guide you in implementing these strategies day-to-day.
I specialize in helping teen girls and women reach their highest potential by teaching healthy coping skills to navigate the everyday challenges of life and heal from chronic stress, anxiety, depression, grief and traumatic events.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I work with clients to explore the powerful relationship between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors; specifically, I teach clients how to shift habitual unhelpful thinking and behaviors to increase feelings of happiness, connection, and life satisfaction while reducing feelings of sadness, depression, worry, anxiety, anger, etc.
Mind-body approach
I am a certified mind-body medicine practitioner with the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, in Washington DC. I teach client skills such as mindful breathing, movement, drawing, writing, and eating, to reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression and promote self-care, relaxation, connection to self and others.
