Hi! I'm Tajsheena, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working in this field for almost 20 years. I have been in practice for 13 years and have worked with various populations including active duty military, children and families in foster care, and everything in between. As a provider, I also emphasize psychoeducation and supportive interventions outside of therapy to help clients better understand themselves and practice the long-term changes they are trying to achieve.
In our first session we will have brief introductions and spend the bulk of the session having a general discussion about what brought you to therapy, what you would like to prioritize with treatment and spend time together creating a more specific treatment plan for you. I am accustomed to seeing client's who are in therapy for the first time and generally provide lots of psychoeducation and answer questions about the therapeutic process, what to expect, and my style of engaging clients.
As a provider, my clients often tell me that I do a good job at balancing being direct and providing the feedback or challenges that a client needs to move through an issue or thought process with being gentle and supportive. I believe my greatest strengths as a provider are empathy and helping people to feel empowered to move toward change.
As a clinician in practice for over a decade, my approach is eclectic and integrative. My approach lends to several modalities as my underlying primary approaches: strengths-based, person-centered, problem-solving, and brief solution-focused. While these are primary, I am also trained in EMDR and am a Certified Financial Social Worker.
