Hello! My name is Elise Nerenberg. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey and Florida. I earned a Bachelor's degree of Social Work from Penn State and a Master's degree from Fordham Graduate School of Social Service. For over 19 years, I have been working in private practice with individuals, couples and families that deal with anxiety, depression and relationship issues.
During our first session, we will spend time to get to know each other. I will review the intake process, inform you of my office policies, ask you about the reason you have come to therapy. We will work on building rapport and a strong therapeutic relationship. When you leave our first session, I want you to feel like you were seen and heard with the hope that hope that therapy will work for you.
My greatest strengths as a therapist are my authenticity, my competence and my empathetic listening. My role is to empower you to make your own best decisions and reach your full potential. I do this by meeting you where you are at, and by providing a safe, non judgmental space.
I love working with adult and young adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety and relationship issues. My clients include individuals, couples and families. I provide a non-judgmental, safe space to enable clients to work through their difficulties, make better life decisions and reach their potentials.

Elise has helped me through a difficult time in my life. She's skilled in addressing trauma in a healthy way that helps me stay in the present and look forward. She has also connected me with mental health resources that promote overall well-being. Elise is reliable, attentive, and flexible with scheduling and therapy needs. I’ve made significant progress over the course of treatment, now more resilient to stressful situations and better able to appreciate the fortunes I do have.

I don’t believe this is the right fit for me. I also want to share that I felt quite vulnerable during our session and was really hoping for support. Unfortunately, it was disappointing and unprofessional to see her doze off a couple of times. It left me feeling dismissed at a time when I really needed to be heard.

CBT will help you to recognize how your thoughts and feelings influence your behavior and then how to use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns.
