My goal as a therapist is to help you to get in the driver's seat of your own life. A history of trauma, experiencing depression, anxiety or ADHD, coping with life changes, and dealing with the stress of relationships, family, work, school and all the challenges that life throws at us can lead us to feel out of control and demoralized. I want to help you to better understand yourself, your thoughts and your mind, as well as teach you coping skills to empower you to live your healthiest, happiest life. I know that there is no cookie cutter approach to therapy, and I want to get to know you as an individual. My approach is trauma informed and I often incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing to help you to overcome unhealthy patterns and feel more secure and confident. I know it can be intimidating to start therapy. I like to use a sense of humor and warmth to build a great relationship based on mutual respect and understanding so you feel comfortable to share and be yourself. I hope that I get a chance to know you and help you to work through any difficulties that you are facing and build a better life.
During your first session, you can expect that I will take the time and attention to really get to know you, your needs, your goals and your strengths. I balance asking questions and listening about your story with introducing myself and the therapeutic process to help ensure that you are comfortable and your needs are met.
I started my career in Community Mental Health, and also have several years of experience in private practice. I love getting to know people as individuals and meeting them where they are at. I am also passionate about delivering high quality treatments shown to be effective by scientific research, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy. I have a special interest and focus on helping people to heal from trauma and on women's mental health.
I specialize in working with people overcoming trauma, depression and anxiety through individual therapy. My practice has a particular emphasis on women's mental health issues including postpartum depression, fertility issues, transition to motherhood, menopause, gender-based discrimination, childhood trauma and domestic violence. I am best positioned to serve people who are looking to build a healthy relationship with their therapist in order to work together to reduce the impact of trauma, anxiety, depression and ADHD in their day to day lives and relationships. I love working with people who are ready to embrace a growth mindset and those who feel they can benefit from feminist, person-centered therapy. I have extensive training in evidence-based behavioral therapy interventions (including Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) that focus on building skills and improving the here and now.

Denise has a measured presence that conveys reliability and solicitude. This session she is functioning for me a a kind of 'ground' - getting me to draw up and out of me the solidity of what I actually have achieved and accomplished: sleep, walking, friends. This helps me to feel that I can continue to move forward. Finding accomplishment in the everyday aspects of life is something I know is worthwhile on an intellectual level but have yet to realize routinely.

This is my first time with a therapist on an online platform. The process is very user-friendly. Denise made me feel at ease right away and I feel she will be able to help me with my anxiety issues. I'm looking forward to future sessions with her to improve my overall mental health.
