LPC, 25 years of experience
New to Grow
I’m Bill Hodson, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) with more than 30 years of experience in behavioral health. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across many levels of care — including inpatient, residential, medical detox, day treatment, and outpatient settings. These experiences have shaped my understanding of how trauma, PTSD, and addiction impact people’s lives, and why individualized, compassionate treatment is so important. I specialize in helping adults heal from trauma and co-occurring addiction, with a particular focus on first responders, veterans, and individuals in high-stress professions. These clients face unique challenges, and I provide a safe, confidential space where they can process their experiences without judgment. I also work with adults from all walks of life who want to overcome trauma, anxiety, or patterns of substance use. In my practice, I use EMDR therapy to help clients reprocess painful memories, reduce triggers, and restore emotional balance. I am also certified in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), a cutting-edge approach for trauma, depression, and treatment-resistant conditions. By combining EMDR, KAP, and trauma-informed counseling, I create individualized treatment plans that meet clients where they are and help them move forward at a pace that feels safe. My clients often describe me as compassionate, collaborative, and approachable. Many find that over time, they experience relief from symptoms, improved relationships, and a renewed sense of resilience and hope. My goal is to help every client move from surviving to truly thriving.
Our first session is about laying the foundation for our work together. We’ll start with some “housekeeping” — making sure your initial paperwork and consent forms are completed, and reviewing any questions you may have about the counseling process. From there, we’ll spend time getting to know each other. I’ll ask about your background, what brought you to therapy, and what goals you hope to achieve. This isn’t about diving too deeply right away, but about understanding your needs and creating a clear starting point. I’ll also explain my role as your therapist — how I can support you, the approaches I use (such as EMDR, trauma-informed care, or Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy when appropriate), and what you can expect from our sessions together. Most importantly, the first session is about building comfort and trust. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and reassured that you are not alone in this process. Together, we’ll begin creating a plan to help you move toward healing, resilience, and lasting change.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is the ability to truly align myself with my clients — to walk beside you in your journey with genuine compassion and support. Compassion, at its root, means “to suffer with,” and I take that to heart. My role is not just to listen, but to stand alongside you, to see you fully, and to share in your struggles as you begin the process of healing. I believe this deep sense of empathy and presence creates the foundation for a transformative therapy experience. Clients often tell me they feel safe, understood, and supported in ways they haven’t before. From this place of trust, real growth can happen — whether it’s processing trauma, breaking cycles of addiction, or rediscovering balance and hope in life. My approach combines compassion with evidence-based practices like EMDR and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, creating a therapy style that is both supportive and effective. I strive to create a space where you don’t have to carry your pain alone — where healing feels possible and lasting change can take root.
I work best with adults who are ready to face the weight of trauma, PTSD, or addiction and want support in creating meaningful change. Many of my clients are first responders, veterans, or individuals in high-stress roles who have carried the burden of difficult experiences for far too long. Others are adults seeking relief from anxiety, depression, or cycles of substance use that feel tied to unresolved pain. My ideal clients are motivated to heal but may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin. Some have tried traditional therapy or medication without the results they hoped for and are open to approaches like EMDR and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Above all, I work with people who want a safe, nonjudgmental space where they can feel supported, understood, and empowered. Whether the goal is reducing flashbacks, overcoming addictive patterns, strengthening relationships, or simply finding peace again, I help clients build resilience and move from surviving to thriving.
In my practice, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a primary method for treating trauma and PTSD. Through bilateral stimulation and guided reprocessing, clients are able to reduce the emotional charge of traumatic memories and strengthen adaptive beliefs.
I have used CBT in my practice for my entire career. It's often useful in working with individuals with substance abuse and other compulsive behaviors, as well as, Anxiety, depression and other mental health issues.
I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and work with clients with various backgrounds of trauma and neglect. Education around how trauma impacts our nervous system and influences how we see ourselves and the world around us is very impactful and helpful for the clients I work with.
