My name is Latrice Mitchell and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California. I graduated from Pepperdine University and I have over 10 years of experience working with clients from various populations. I offer a person-centered approach, creating and building a relationship with my clients while incorporating evidenced-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance, and commitment therapy, solution-focused as well as somatic and mindfulness-based techniques.
The first session is a "get to know" session also known as an initial assessment. We will spend time getting to know each other, to determine if we are a good match as well as determining reasons for you attending therapy and what you hope to achieve while in treatment.
My strengths lie in how I approach therapy sessions, I focus on clients goals from a collaborative approach. I also provide a apace where my client can feel seen and heard in a nonjudgmental space. I work with my client as they identify what they want to achieve and assist in finding a path to help them move forward in accomplishing their goals
Helping to guide and assist in the healing journey of life is a role that I find great delight in providing to my clients. My passion lies in assisting women through their journey of postpartum and providing support while adjusting to new role of parenting. I also provide support and guidance through life's challenges including relationship issues, stress, anxiety and depression.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I help clients understand the connection between thoughts, behaviors and feelings and discuss how making a change in one can impact the other areas. Helping clients apply this process to their current experience and circumstance is a tool that I find has been helpful for many clients their daily life.
Christian Counseling
As a Christian myself I am aware how helpful it has been to incorporate my Faith in my daily life. In my treatment with clients I encourage them to bring into session their own relationship with their Faith and include in the sessions and treatment of current concerns.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I have taken multiple classes in school and continuing education classes on this model of treatment and have found in my sessions providing a supportive non judgmental space for clients to process their thoughts and feelings while feeling seen and heard has been very helpful in building a relationship with my clients. and helping clients gain a better sense of their own experience and self understanding.
