I am a double boarded family and psychiatric nurse practitioner with a doctorate from RUSH University of Chicago. I have been involved in psychiatric nursing for nearly 30 years and have been a Nurse Practitioner for nine years. I provide a variety of therapy services including CBT, psychotherapy, addiction, anxiety, and grief counseling. PSYCHOTROPIC MEDICATION MANAGEMENT is my specialty prescribing for all mood disorders, anxiety, depression, sleep difficulties, and ADHD. Helping you to be the best version of yourself is my goal. I hope to meet you soon.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session you and I get to know each other. Do not be afraid, I am easy to talk to and I am not here to judge you. I will have a lot of questions for you and guide you through the entire session, you are not expected to bring anything to the table except answering questions and maybe expanding on things where you are comfortable doing so. You get to share with me what is going on right now and what has brought you to see me. We will talk about present and past events that have led to your current situation, medications you may have tried in the past, and interventions that have or have not been successful in your treatment. We will go over the materials you fill out on intake and talk about your test scores and what they mean. We will discuss your past diagnosis and any new ones that we discover in your intake process. You and I will talk about what your psychiatric goals are, how do you want to feel, what do you need to get out of our time together? And then you and I will come up with a treatment plan that you are comfortable with and spend our subsequent times together working to reach those goals. If you are open to it, and if clinically indicated you may get a prescription at our first meeting to help you start to feel better as soon as possible. I will listen to you and I will make sure you are comfortable with your treatment plan at all times. We do things at your pace.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

-I actually care about you being the best you can be. -I enjoy listening. -Thirty years of experience with psychiatric clients in various clinical settings. -Eight years experience as a nurse practitioner. -Double boarded as a FNP (family nurse practitioner) and PMHNP (psychiatric nurse practitioner). -Doctorate degree (DNP) from RUSH university. -Experience with multiple types of therapy.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Medication is not always the only answer when dealing with psychiatric disorders. Meds can be a great place to start and it is important to get your neurotransmitters firing in the right direction. Therapy is important too. Building a set of effective coping skills is something you will be able to carry with you through your entire life and these come with therapy. Coupling therapy and medication management is by far the most effective approach. Through a combination approach I can help you with your depression, ADHD, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic, OCD, sleep difficulties, grief, gender issues and/or self-esteem. I never dictate what your treatment plan will be, you and I talk about options and decide together what is best for you and then we come up with a plan to make it happen.
