LPCC, 30 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello, I'm Brenda Do you feel overwhelmed by stress in your job, family, and social obligations? Do sometimes you feel like you are trying to make everyone else happy and/or trying to solve other peoples problems, but never have anyone to discuss your problems with? I can help. As a busy, career-driven mom, and daughter. I can relate to the stress of everyday life when you are trying to prioritize everyone else, always being the one that everyone comes to for help. And sometimes you feel overwhelmed yourself and need someone to talk to. I like a lot of people have been dealing with the same issues such as depression and anxiety. I have been learning, trained and educated over the years to help others with issue's such as these. I hold a LPCC license (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) with 30 years of experience in doing private practice seeing individuals exeriencing stress in their everyday lives. My approach is simple using CBT and help you take back control of your happiness. We would discuss what you can do daily to help reduce and/or cope with stressors in your life.
For the first session when would be just trying to establish what the main issues are so that i can find the best way to help you cope with your current or past issues. We would probably go over your PHQ9 and any other assessment results to see exactly where we need to begin. Establishing some boundaries and goals for future sessions.
I have over 30 years of experience in the field and have seen many clients over the years with some of the same and/or similar issues. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has definitely been affective with my clients as well as just active listening. A client to have someone to talk to outloud itself is productive to sometimes hear themselves outloud and the act of being heard produces positive results.
I would deal best with clients who are dealing with day to days stressors and with different phases of life such as parentlng tips, empty nest syndrome, grief issues Etc. I would listen to the client and create therapy goals to which the client is wishing to accomplish in his/her therapy session.
I use CBT for clients to help them to change unhealthy thinking patterns to improve their mental health and quality of living.
I use grief therapy with clients to help them work through the stages of grief and learning to help with the emotions of their loss.
