LCSW, 10 years of experience
Que bien que te has dado el tiempo de estar aqui :) Me llamo Laura. I am a first generation daughter of Mexican immigrants and understand how tough it can be to navigate life's challenges and reach out for help. I strive to bring warmth, mindfulness, kindness, humor and care into the therapy space to create a supportive space where you can reconnect with yourself and feel empowered. Y si hablas Spanish, podemos hablar in both languages!
In our first session, we'll simply get to know each other and talk about what brings you here. You set the pace, and there are no right or wrong answers! This is you safe space to begin your journey.
My greatest strengths are compassion, deep listening and creating a space where you can feel seen and supported. I especially connect with those struggling with self-confidence and self-doubt (who hasn't been there?), drawing from both my professional experience and my own personal journey of growth.
My ideal clients are women in the Latinx community, typically ages 18 and up, who are ready to focus on healing and growth. I work with those seeking to process past trauma and pain, build healthier coping skills and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. I especially connect well with clients who want a supportive space to explore solutions, strengthen their self-worth and create lasting change.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps clients change by focusing on the solutions rather than the problems! As a therapist that uses this approach, I hope to bring a friendly, positive, future-oriented energy to help you formulate, motivate and achieve your goals. You are the expert of your own life, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to teach practical skills for managing emotions, reducing stress, and improving relationships. Together, we focus on building tools like mindfulness, healthy coping strategies and effective communication so you can feel more balanced and confident in daily life.
I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients better understand the different parts of themselves such as the parts that carry pain, protect them, or strive for control. Together, we gently explore these parts with curiosity and compassion, so you can feel more connected to your inner self, heal past wounds and move toward greater balance and self-acceptance.
I take a trauma informed approach, which means I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel respected and empowered. I recognize how past experiences can affect current struggles and work with you at your own pace, always prioritizing safety, trust and choice in the healing process.
