My name is MaryAnn Emmerling, and I have been a therapist for many years, working with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional challenges. I have extensive experience helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety and panic, depression, relationship difficulties, childhood abuse, family concerns, and work-related stress. I hold a master’s degree in counseling, am fully licensed, and am a Nationally Certified Counselor. I am also the author of a self-help book focused on anxiety and panic. Taking care of your emotional health is just as important as caring for your physical health. Many people feel unsure or self-conscious about seeking therapy, which can leave them struggling in silence. You deserve to be heard, understood, and supported — no one should have to cope alone. The therapy I provide is tailored to your unique needs. Often described as Eclectic or Integrative, this approach allows us to draw from a variety of methods to best address your specific concerns and goals. Let’s work together to help you find the answers and tools you need to live a healthier, more fulfilling life.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The most important part of our first session is getting to know each other. I encourage you to ask questions and share any concerns you may have about the therapy process. We can often begin addressing your symptoms, issues, and goals during the first appointment as well.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Providing a safe and welcoming space for someone to heal is vital. Through my years of experience, I have learned that building trust, truly listening, and working collaboratively to resolve issues are the most important parts of therapy.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I provide a safe and supportive place for someone who is struggling to cope with anxiety, trauma, depression or past or current abuse. You do not have to feel alone.
Trauma-Focused CBT
This therapy method explores past trauma and its relationship to current symptoms, thought patterns and beliefs. This approach helps the person heal trauma, gain trust, self awareness and develop more control and power in their life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps by exchanging current beliefs and patterns of thinking for more productive and healthy ones. This reduces symptoms like anxiety and depression and improves relationships and overall well being.
Christian Counseling
Christian counseling combines therapy and faith to address emotional difficulties and struggles. This can help to make sense of the "why" in our lives and help us feel less alone.
Compassion Focused
Compassion Focused therapy addresses how to identify and resolve shame and self criticism that is common with past trauma and abuse.
Eclectic
This therapy is adaptive and flexible, which allows the therapist to address the person's needs in a unique way.

Always has the right words to say, asks the tricky questions to gauge my mental state, very sweet and kind, and assures me she’s there between sessions if needed.

MaryAnn was everything I had hoped for. She is compassionate and empathetic. I felt heard and understood. We talked at length about what's going on in my life and I know she will guide me, with a goal of making me feel better.
