My name is MaryAnn Emmerling and I have been a therapist for many years, working with adults who have a variety of emotional issues. My experience includes helping people with trauma, anxiety and panic, depression, relationship issues and childhood abuse. I also have experience with family issues, work stress and relationship conflicts. I have a master’s degree in counseling, am licensed and I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor. I also authored a self-help book on anxiety and panic. Taking care of your emotional health is just as important as taking care of your physical health. Sometimes there is a barrier when someone considers therapy because they feel self conscious or fearful about what it means to be in therapy, so they suffer unnecessarily. Taking that first step is not easy. But clients have told me that the healing process began when they took that first step in seeking help and support for their emotional issues. The type of therapy I offer depends on your own individual needs. Often called Eclectic or Integrative, this type of therapy is tailored to your specific issues. Let's work together to find the answers you need to live a better life!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The most important part of the first session is to get to know each other. I encourage you to ask questions and share your concerns about the therapy process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Providing a safe and welcoming place for someone to heal is vital. Through my years of experience, I have learned that developing trust, truly listening and successfully working together to resolve issues are the most important parts therapy.

My treatment methods

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

This therapy method explores past trauma and its relationship to current symptoms and problems. This approach helps the person heal trauma, gain trust, self awareness and develop more control and power in their life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps by exchanging current beliefs and patterns of thinking for more productive and healthy ones. This reduces symptoms like anxiety and depression and improves relationships and overall well being.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling combines therapy and faith to address emotional difficulties and struggles. This can help to make sense of the "why" in our lives and help us feel less alone.

Compassion Focused

Compassion Focused therapy addresses how to identify and resolve shame and self criticism that is common with past trauma and abuse.

Eclectic

Through the Eclectic approach, mulitiple therapy techniques are used to treat symptoms. This therapy is adaptive and flexible, which allows the therapist to address the person's needs in a unique way.
