Marissa Myers
Great to meet you! If you're feeling like something needs to change but you're not sure where to start, you're in the right place. My approach is rooted in respect for you and your needs and desires for your own life. I believe that your challenges are real, but they do not define you.
My approach is rooted in respect for you and your needs and desires for your own life. I believe that your challenges are real, but they do not define you.
Together we will create a space where you can feel what you need to feel, say or express things that are hard to carry, and be at peace with who you are and what you want. We will make a plan together to understand where you've been and get you closer to where you want to be.
First session
After our first session together, my hope is for you to leave feeling just a little lighter and more equipped to face your week. We will spend our first meeting getting to know you and getting on the same page about what you want for yourself and what works and doesn't work for you. Then we will agree together on a goal or goals to alleviate your struggles, build your resilience, or help you become more at peace.
Strengths
My clients would describe me as open-minded, warm, willing to laugh, and able to hold hope when you find it hard to see the light. I know the power of having a space where you can honestly be with yourself and be witnessed as you are. I believe that your struggles—large or small, new or long-standing—can be opportunities for some of your greatest growth. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches to adapt to your individual preferences and needs.
Ideal clients
I specialize in working with people who are navigating major transitions or changes in their lives, people who are feeling the effects of unaddressed trauma, and folks who are noticing unhelpful patterns, disconnection, or anxiety in their relationships. I love to work with individuals who are curious and open to experimenting with new perspectives and ways of engaging with their lives and with their loved ones.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I incorporate a variety of treatment styles into my practice as I recognize that each client is unique and what works for one will be different than what works for another.
