Hello, dear one. Life is a journey. Sometimes we can get lost and feel confused. Asking for help in those moments can be scary. Congratulations! You have taken a courageous step on your behalf! I am Louise Kenny, a licensed clinical social worker in two states, Florida and Connecticut. I have been dedicated to working in the field of helping others traverse the sometimes rocky, stormy, and dark spaces we can encounter during this journey through life. I work primarily with individuals ranging from young to older adults. I have worked for over 22 years in the field of therapeutic social work. My work experience spans bereavement, addiction, trauma, crisis intervention, groups, workshop facilitation, and teaching. I look forward to meeting you and providing assistance.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

This about you and your journey. While first sessions often differ depending on the person and the issue bringing you here. It is my practice to attempt to hear what it is your are seeking help with. Also to invite you to ask me any questions. I may explore through conversation your strengths, support system and while gathering some relevant information about your past. Sometimes I do this as part of a conversation and sometimes directly. My style is about "being with you" not just observing you.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I frequently draw upon the literature that has emerged from ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholic and or Dysfunctional Family Systems) Gestalt therapy, Existential and Humanistic psychology. I have found this body of information profoundly useful in helping clients to understand the formation of original wounds and associated beliefs with great compassion while transforming the inner victim to its rightful place, the empowered warrior. I have walked this walk and I have seen darkness, light, and a spectrum of color in between. Life is an adventure and a gift to truly behold in awe and wonder.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As previously noted, one area I have a lot of experience in is walking alongside people who are in grief and or bereavement. What I have also found is pet loss is often overlooked, yet pet loss can be very profound. I am also available to people who are dealing with a terminal illness. This is another group of people who don't get the support they sometimes need.

I've been with Louis for over a year now and I love the insight she brings to my world! She is never judgmental and really focuses on self empowerment. She seeks to understand how not only to support me best, but also to change my perspective-I am able to recognize the things I can control or change rather than focusing on the other person or spending time "diagnosing" them or the problem at large.

She is very warm, understanding, empowering, and gets right to the root of how I am feeling and how to process them.

Louise is great at listening while keeping you focused on the goal. You can wander in thought while knowing that she is going to pull the parts pertinent to your goal up to the surface.
