LMFT, 9 years of experience
Welcome! I am a proud person of color and am an ally to LGBTQIA2S community members. My name is Vik and I have over 9 years of experience practicing therapy. My therapy style includes a focus on empowerment, skill-building, and solution-focused ideas. I focus on building a safe, caring, and respectful therapeutic relationship with clients without being too formal. A sense of humor and genuine connection can support successful therapeutic growth. In my spare time I enjoy playing video games, time with my family and dogs, trying new foods, and travel.
In our first session, we will get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. We will also review your intake paperwork, talk about what to expect in therapy, and make sure you feel comfortable with our therapeutic dynamic. This is a great time to be thinking about what you hope to gain from therapy and how I can best support you along the way.
My strengths include a warm and welcoming approach, openness and willingness to meet you where you are at, listening attentively, and collaborating with clients. Use of humor and lightheartedness at times can be an addition to our work, when appropriate. It is my hope that you will feel comfortable to be yourself in therapy!
If you are navigating challenges with relationships, mood, depression, anxiety, stress, focus/distractibility, or burnout then you have come to the right place! Together we can hold space for you to explore what is working well and areas that could use support or a new approach. Regardless of if you are new to therapy or experienced with therapy, we can work together to identify goals and work toward them. Please note: Court-mandated services and anger management services are not provided.
I have practiced CBT for approximately nine years. CBT can be helpful in identifying unhelpful thoughts and their influences on feelings and behaviors. CBT can be applicable to a wide variety of challenges associated with both anxiety and depression.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy can be helpful in promoting momentum and change in a relatively short amount of time. You are likely to see improvements to motivation and confidence by focusing on skills and solutions to current challenges.
