Thank you for taking time to read my bio. My name is Denedria Banks. I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and Nevada. I received my Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Child Development from California State University at Northridge in 1995, and earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from California State University at Sacramento in 2001. In 2005, I self-published “Melodies of My Life: A Disabled Girl’s Journey To Womanhood.” I previously worked extensively in the medical arena specializing in the areas of Nephrology, HIV, Alzheimer’s/Dementia and Hospice (End-of- Life Care). For the past 9 years, I have provided psychotherapy services specializing in the areas of depression, chronic illness, life transitions, and grie & loss. I am trained in various theoretical approaches (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Psychosocial Development Theory, and Systems Theory) and will use a combination of approaches with my clients as I don't believe in a "cookie cutter" approach to therapy.
Our first session is simply a conversation. I will work to learn about you and your expectations during our time together. I will also answer provide information of what you can expect from me and work to answer any questions you may have.
Although therapy can feel daunting, I am able to normalize the experience for my clients.
My goal is to create a safe, collaborative, non- judgmental therapeutic relationship with you. You may feel apprehensive about taking the first step and that is okay. Allow me to help you as you take your first step in discovering your new normal.
