My name is Melissa Ludwig. I'm a licensed mental health counselor I am licensed in Florida, South Carolina and Idaho, meaning I can see anyone who is physically located in any of these states during our sessions.
Clients have told me they appreciate my authenticity, sarcasm and relatability, and I often use humor and pop culture references when appropriate as I feel this helps diffuse difficult topics and often enhances the therapeutic relationship.
First session
I like to get to know my clients, in the most informal way possible (none of those awkward movie-like therapy scenes they sometimes picture before meeting a therapist for the first time!) I also welcome them to ask me questions about my style and how I can best help them!
Strengths

I tailor my work with clients to each client's specific needs and personality style.
Ideal clients
I operate from a CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) perspective but incorporate other therapy methods into my practice as appropriate/indicated. I am also trained in EMDR as well as Gottman Levels 1-3 and both of these modalities are near and dear to my heart. My specialties include: couples work trauma processing anger anxiety stress boundary work interpersonal conflicts self-esteem identity issues phase of life transitions
Treatment methods
EMDR
I am trained in EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing) and utilize this with my clients on a regular basis.
Gottman method
I am trained in the Gottman method and utilize this with my clients on a regular basis.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been utilizing CBT with my clients on a regular basis for over 10 years.
Daialectical Behavior (DBT)
I am trained in DBT and utilize this with my clients on a regular basis.
