I am Becky Hunt, and I have had my LCSW for the past 7 years. I have been practicing for 13 years, 6 of those in community mental health and 7 of those in my own private practice. I feel as if becoming a therapist is a calling for me. Having grown up with significant anxiety symptoms, an OCD diagnosis, and some painful eating-disorder issues have created in me an overwhelming desire to help others navigate through this tough world. I am not unfamiliar with conflict and how uncomfortable it can be for some and have found ways to be bold and assertive despite the discomfort and pain. I have a faith that helps me gain insight and perspective on a daily basis and love helping others with some of the same principals and beliefs that strengthen me. I also like to laugh, when I can, about the absurdities of life; I believe is humor is an often overlooked coping skill.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

We will spend your first session getting to know each other, and I will provide you compassionate understanding for the anxiety and fear that often comes with that first appointment. You can expect me to listen and not judge, no matter what you bring to the table. I am here for you and will help you identify strengths and set goals for the therapy process. If you don't know your strengths and aren't ready for goals yet, that's alright, too. I will sit with you until you can.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe my greatest strength is my ability to empathize without judgement. I've never met a single client who, after hearing their story and background, I've not empathized with and understood. We tend to be products of our environments, and our traumas are not our fault. I am very experienced in assisting clients to heal so that they can then take back their power and reclaim their futures. My number one goal is to help you create a life you love!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My dream client is someone who is brave enough to make one of the most difficult calls ever. I know this isn't easy, as I have made the call myself before. I love working with people and using the skills I've learned to make their lives just a little bit easier. I love working with people who need an ear that listens and a heart that will understand and empathize. I will come alongside you and provide you with the therapeutic support you need. I take an eclectic approach to working with clients, because I know you aren't "one size fits all". I pull from my 13 years of experience to provide you with various options and techniques for this support.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a basis for my therapy sessions. I enjoy teaching people how their thoughts impact their feelings, which in turn, impact their behaviors. This truth often leads to frequent "light-bulb moments" when clients realize the power they have to challenge and reframe their thinking and perspective.

Faith based therapy

Faith is such an important part of my life, and I like to share the faith that has helped me navigate a tough world. I love using faith based therapy to help clients explore their own spirituality in order to improve their mental health and perspectives, using principals from their faith beliefs.

Supportive

Few things help us more than feeling heard and understood. I am also a human being going through tough life transitions and making difficult decisions on a daily basis so I love being able to come alongside of my clients as we navigate life together.
