We all struggle personally and interpersonally. Jesus Christ knows and cares about our struggles. He enters into our lives seeking to bring change, forgiveness, and restoration. I seek to come alongside you and help you in that journey. My own journey has helped me understand people. There have been experiences in life that I have enjoyed as well as some that have stretched me to heal. I am grateful that I was able to play soccer in college, go white water rafting over dozens of summers, was able to (and still can) swim with my kids in our creek and the ocean. I also know what it is like to go through a divorce, be frustrated by custody issues, be hurt by the church, and protect my children from harm. I am a biblical counselor at heart. For the past few decades, I have assisted people to heal from depression and anxiety by not just looking at the symptoms but specifically at the source. I have recently added nature-informed therapy as a treatment modality for those who may choose to benefit from engaging in God's creation.
By working together we seek to: understand difficulties you are facing, such as anxiety and depression; identify sources of entanglements and struggles of the heart; discover areas in which change is needed; speak the truth in love; and apply wisdom to experience life and relationships in healthier ways.
The primary treatment methods I use are narrative therapy and biblical counseling. At times certain tools may be suggested to clients, such as journaling and genograms. I also offer "PeaceMaking Martial Arts" to children who experience emotional control and anger control issues - teaching coping skills to children using self-defense techniques found in martial arts. As mentioned above, I have recently added nature-informed therapy as a treatment modality for those who may choose to benefit from engaging in God's creation.
My strengths are seen in helping people experience the fullness of the life that God wants them to live in the present as they look to an encouraging future. I have a wide ranging clinical background that includes real life-change in working with individuals, couples, families, and groups as well as teaching coping skills to kids, which was the subject of my dissertation for the Doctor of Ministry degree granted by Missio Seminary (then Biblical Seminary).
