Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Virginia. I am originally from Ohio and am also licensed as an LPCC there. I received my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Dayton, Ohio and have been working in mental health for more than 10 years! I have worked in inpatient hospital settings, crisis management and intervention, community agencies, and private practice.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with the intake process. This involves us getting to know each other and me gathering lots of important information about you. After intake we can dive into the specific challenges you're facing and what you would like to get out of therapy. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in many facets of mental health over the last 10 years, I've developed skills for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a plan that is unique to you to tackle these challenges. I enjoy utilizing humor and clear direction to better serve my clients and want therapy to be an enjoyable experience.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with people of all ages who are struggling with life transitions, including new careers, ending and starting relationships, or having children. Life can be messy, and sometimes we need that extra support to guide us and give us the boost we need to navigate problems and deal with tough situations. Whether you need a sounding board, cheerleader, or someone to give you direction, I'm your therapist!

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In solution focused brief treatment we focus on solutions, not problems. You are the expert of your own life and together we can tap into your knowledge and strengths. Being future focused and goal-oriented is the key to success!

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered means utilizing unconditional positive regard. Therapy should be an accepting, non-judgmental space to support you, your thoughts and feelings!

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In ACT we focus our attention on the here and now, rather than being stuck in the past. You will learn to see your thoughts as just thoughts--not truths. By doing so we can work on accepting the current situation while still taking meaningful action towards a better life!
