Nicaeli Theobald
Hello! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over five years of experience helping people navigate anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, life transitions, relationship challenges, and all of the messy things that come with being human. I’m a big believer that therapy doesn’t have to feel stiff, intimidating, or like you’re sitting across from someone who is just waiting for you to talk. I want our sessions to feel comfortable, relaxed, and like a space where you can genuinely be yourself. Yes, we’ll do the important work—but there’s also room for realness, laughter, and some good rant sessions! My style is warm, supportive, and very down-to-earth. I’m not here to judge you or tell you how you’re supposed to live your life. I want to understand you—your experiences, your relationships, your goals, and what’s been weighing on you—and work together to figure out what might actually help. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, burned out, anxious, disconnected, or just not quite like yourself lately, you don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Sometimes you just need a safe place to talk, someone who really listens, and a little help sorting through the chaos. I’d love the opportunity to meet you where you are and help you continually work towards the best version of yourself!
First session
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to get a feel for whether I’m the right therapist for you. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what’s been going on in your life, and what you’d like to get out of our time together. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what you want to work on—we can figure that out together. By the end of our first session, my hope is that you feel heard, understood, and a little more clear about where to start.
Strengths
I want therapy to feel like a comfortable space where you can truly be yourself. I bring a relaxed and lighthearted energy to sessions because I believe meaningful work can look like both having the heavy conversations and laughing through some of the chaos. I also believe there’s value in allowing ourselves to fully feel what we’re experiencing so we can process it, learn from it, and continue moving forward. I’ll meet you where you are without judgment or expectations, and we’ll work together at a pace that feels right for you.
Ideal clients
An ideal client for me would be teens and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, daily life stressors, burnout, relationship struggles, work or school stress, life transitions, and all of the everyday things that can sometimes feel like a lot to carry. You don’t have to be in crisis or have everything figured out before coming to therapy. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, unmotivated, disconnected, or just not quite like yourself lately. Maybe you know something needs to change but aren’t sure where to start. Wherever you are, we can start there. I work best with clients who are willing to be open, honest, and curious about themselves and ready to put some effort into making changes that feel meaningful to them. That doesn’t mean you have to show up perfectly motivated every session—we all have those days! It simply means being willing to show up as you are, be vulnerable when you can, and work together toward feeling more confident, balanced, and like yourself again.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and work on more helpful ways of thinking and responding. CBT can also provide practical tools you can use in everyday life to manage anxiety, stress, depression, and other challenges.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients better understand and manage their emotions, cope with stress, and navigate difficult situations without feeling overwhelmed. We’ll work on practical skills like emotional regulation, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and healthy communication. My goal is to help you feel more in control of your emotions while building healthier ways to respond to life’s challenges.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help you explore what you truly want for yourself and what might be getting in the way. Rather than telling you what you should do, we’ll work together to explore your thoughts, values, and goals so you can find your own motivation for making changes. This approach is especially helpful when you feel stuck, unsure, or caught between wanting to make a change and not knowing where to start.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help you focus on where you want to go rather than spending all of our time focused on what’s going wrong. Together, we’ll identify your goals, recognize what’s already working, and build on your strengths and successes. We’ll look for practical, realistic steps you can take toward the changes you want to see, even when things feel overwhelming or stuck.
Strength-Based
I use a strengths-based approach to help you recognize the strengths, skills, and resources you already have—even when it may be hard to see them. Instead of focusing only on what’s going wrong, we’ll explore what you’re doing well, what has helped you get through difficult situations, and how we can build on those strengths. My goal is to help you feel more confident in yourself and your ability to navigate life’s challenges.
