About me

Hello and welcome! I'm Sue Ann McCray, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University in 2017 and bring over eight years of experience supporting individuals navigating a wide range of life challenges. My clinical background includes working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, individuals coping with anxiety and depression, and those processing grief and loss. I have also had the privilege of supporting individuals in early recovery from substance use within an inpatient residential treatment setting. Throughout my career, I’ve provided both individual and group therapy. At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to creating a therapeutic space rooted in compassion, warmth, acceptance, and respect. I believe that healing begins when we feel truly seen and heard. My approach is client-centered and collaborative, aiming to foster self-awareness, resilience, and empowerment. Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to face them alone. In our work together, I’ll walk alongside you as you navigate your unique path toward growth and healing—offering guidance, support, and encouragement every step of the way.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, the primary focus will be on getting to know each other and beginning to build a comfortable and trusting therapeutic relationship. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, explore any specific concerns or goals you may have, and go over your personal history to better understand your experiences and the context of your current challenges. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. We’ll work at your pace—there is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with. I may ask a few questions to help guide our conversation, but ultimately, this is your time, and I’m here to support you in a way that feels right for you. By the end of our first session, we’ll begin outlining some initial goals together and discuss what ongoing support might look like moving forward.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I tailor my interventions to meet the needs of my clients. I use a blend of multiple treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solutions-focused therapy (SFT), and mindfulness-based therapy to successfully alleviate symptoms and to help my clients live a balanced fulfilling life. I believe that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling happy lives.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I work with teens, young adults, and adults. I specialize in trauma, substance use, depression, anxiety, women's issues, relationship challenges, and grief and loss. The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are teens, young adults, and adults who are navigating complex emotional experiences and seeking a safe, non-judgmental space to heal, grow, and gain clarity. Many of the individuals I work with are facing challenges related to trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions. Some come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—from themselves or others. Others are high-functioning but carrying deep emotional pain beneath the surface. Many of my clients identify as women who are exploring their identity, working through past wounds, or navigating the pressures of relationships, caregiving, and societal expectations. I especially connect with clients who are ready to explore the root of their struggles—not just to “cope,” but to truly heal. They may not have all the answers (and they don’t need to), but they are open to gaining insight, challenging old patterns, and building a more empowered, authentic life.
