New to Grow
Do you struggle with managing your thoughts, feelings, or emotions? As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I help individuals develop healthier ways to cope with life’s challenges. Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I work with clients to identify negative thinking patterns and build effective coping skills that support emotional regulation and personal growth. I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment for those experiencing concerns such as Depression, Anxiety Disorders, anger, mood changes, or relationship difficulties. My goal is to help you feel empowered, build resilience, and move toward a healthier and more fulfilling life.
During the first counseling session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where they have the opportunity to share their concerns and goals for therapy. The first session is primarily focused on getting to know the client, discussing what brought them to counseling, and gathering background information about their emotional, mental, and personal experiences. I may ask questions about current challenges, personal history, relationships, and coping strategies to better understand the client’s needs. Together, we will begin identifying goals for therapy and discuss possible treatment approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, that may be helpful. The first session is also a chance for clients to ask questions, learn about the counseling process, and start building a comfortable and trusting therapeutic relationship.
I use methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and solution-focused strategies to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop practical coping skills, and achieve meaningful change. My approach is collaborative. Clients actively participate in setting goals and creating strategies that fit their unique lives. Many clients report improved emotional regulation, reduced anxiety or depressive symptoms, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of confidence and resilience as a result of our work together.
I would focus on the goals they want to achieve through counseling. My ideal client is someone who is motivated to make positive changes in their life and is open to exploring their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I would work with clients to identify clear, realistic goals and help them develop practical strategies to reach those goals. By focusing on strengths and progress, I aim to support clients as they build confidence, improve coping skills, and create meaningful changes in their personal lives and relationships.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) would be used in practice to help both children and adults recognize how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. I would work with clients to identify negative or unhelpful thinking patterns and teach them healthier ways to challenge and replace those thoughts. With adults, I would use techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and goal setting. When working with children, I would adapt CBT by using age-appropriate language, games, and visual tools to help them understand their emotions and develop coping skills. The goal is to help clients build practical strategies to manage challenges related to conditions such as Anxiety Disorders, Depression, and other emotional or behavioral difficulties.
Christian Counseling
Christian counseling integrates faith with therapeutic techniques to support emotional and spiritual well-being. In practice, I would incorporate biblical principles, prayer, and spiritual reflection while also using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Clients may be encouraged to explore guidance from scripture, such as the Bible, to strengthen hope, forgiveness, and resilience. Christian counseling can help individuals work through challenges like Anxiety Disorders, Depression, and life stress while supporting their faith and personal values. The goal is to promote healing by addressing both psychological needs and spiritual growth.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy can be used in practice to help clients focus on their strengths and develop practical solutions rather than concentrating only on their problems. In counseling sessions, I would encourage clients to identify their goals, recognize times when the problem is less severe, and explore strategies that have worked for them in the past. Techniques such as the miracle question, scaling questions, and identifying exceptions can help clients build confidence and create small, achievable steps toward change. This approach can be helpful for individuals experiencing challenges such as Anxiety Disorders, Depression, or everyday life stress, while empowering them to use their existing strengths and resources to improve their situation.
Couples Counseling
Couples counseling typically involves working with both partners together to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationship. In therapy, the counselor creates a safe and respectful environment where each partner can openly express their thoughts and feelings. Using approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, the therapist helps couples identify negative communication patterns, understand each other’s perspectives, and develop healthier ways of interacting. Sessions may include activities such as practicing active listening, identifying relationship goals, and learning conflict-resolution skills. The therapist may also assign exercises for couples to practice between sessions, such as improving communication or spending intentional quality time together. The overall goal of couples counseling is to help partners strengthen their connection, increase understanding, and build healthier relationship patterns.
