Hello, I'm Laura. Has your personal growth been slowed down or blocked because of dealing with trauma, anxiety, grief, addiction or depression? Are you feeling stuck? I am an independently licensed social worker in Indiana and Ohio and my practice is focused on working with adults who are experiencing grief, trauma, anxiety and depression. Together, we will unlock your strengths and learn new ways to cope with the symptoms that are holding you back. Let's get started. Please use my booking link intake+Laura22002@growtherapy.com or call (786) 755-1863 to schedule.
In our first session together, we will get to know each other better and begin to develop a tailor-made plan with a focus on reducing your symptoms.
I specialize in the treatment of grief, anxiety, depression, substance abuse and trauma by helping you to develop skills to reduce the negative symptoms you are experiencing. I am supportive, and encouraging, and will strive to understand what your experiences are to provide treatment that works for you. I primarily work with adults and elderly clients.
Laura Harmon offers therapy covered by Managed Health Services (Managed Medicaid), Medicaid - Managed Health Services and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Indiana.
What we think has a huge impact on what we feel and do. Symptoms improve when we start to develop realistic, rational thoughts.
We can have grief related to the loss of someone we love but also other losses not related to death. Grief therapy acknowledges the pain associated with death and non-death related losses and helps us to move through the grief process, leading to acceptance.
Treatment starts with learning strategies to manage trauma triggers then when ready, processing traumatic experiences through EMDR. I provide psychoeducation to increase understanding of symptoms and why interventions are effective. I work with patients on tapping or following my fingers during sessions and have had success during in person as well as telehealth sessions.
Change can be difficult. I help you explore your reasons for making changes that improve your satisfaction with your work and home life.
Being able to visualize how you interact in the world is an important tool for determining what success will look like to you. SFBT is a great way to identify what success looks like to you and can help to identify the steps you need to take to reach that goal.
