40 years of experience
I carry both a Social Work and Marriage and Family Therapy license. I have been in this field for forty years. After my Masters degree, I received 10 years of extra training at the Family Therapy Institute of Washington D.C. I have worked with individuals, couples and families. I have successfully helped clients of all diagnoses, including Multiple Personality Disorder and psychotic disorders. I have published four books on family therapy.
I aim to help clients identify specific problems and symptoms they wish to overcome. I do not emphasize diagnoses. I aim to help clients find ways to resolve their problems or symptoms without emphasizing medications.
When possible, I suggest including family members in sessions to form a team organized to help overcome the primary problems clients identify as wanting help on. I work within my client's belief systems, and aim to take advantage of the healing powers latent in family relationships.
My biggest strength is my treatment flexibility. I believe in adapting to what makes sense to my clients rather than asking clients to adapt to a rigid set of treatment procedures
