Hannah Puls
I approach therapy as a collaboration and focus on setting you up for growth and success by addressing negative thought patterns and unhealthy behaviors in a way that will lead to long-term change. I provide individual therapy to adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, general life stress, substance use issues, and trauma. I have worked with adults in all walks of life and have specifically worked with the First Responder population.
I approach therapy as a collaboration and focus on setting you up for growth and success by addressing negative thought patterns and unhealthy behaviors in a way that will lead to long-term change.
I have often described myself to clients as a close friend who gives you evidence-based advice and suggestions. I tend to be casual and relaxed in my communication style and create a warm environment for clients.
First session
In our first session, I would like to go over therapy expectations so that we are both on the same page. Since the therapeutic relationship is the most important predictor of success, I like to gather background information and find out what brought you to seek help at this time, and use that as our starting point.
Strengths
I believe that meeting my clients where they are and starting with what their goals are is our best start. I like to start with small, achievable goals with a long-term goal in mind on the horizon to build confidence and success.
Ideal clients
I work especially well with young adult women navigating everyday stress, life transitions, and mild to moderate anxiety or depressive symptoms. I value building a strong, collaborative therapeutic relationship and creating a supportive space where clients can explore challenges, strengthen coping skills, and move toward greater well-being. I appreciate clients being motivated and prepared for therapeutic work and skill building.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I work with clients to identify the behaviors they are looking to change or redirect and, over time, go deeper to identify thoughts that guide those unhealthy coping mechanisms and work to alter those thoughts for long term change.
